THE STORY OF THE WEST FLORIDA REBELLION By Stanley Clisby Arthur
One of the most colorful events in the history of Louisiana took place in the area of the southeastern parishes of East & West Feliciana, East Baton Rouge, St. Helena, Livingston, Tangipahoa, Washington and St. Tammany -- then known as the County of Feliciana in West Florida. For 74 days this was a free and independent nation, it's own flag flown over the captured fort.
This intriguing story is told here, from the history of the place and people of the area, to it's inception in the minds of those early inhabitants involved in the overthrow, 'til the end of the 74 days of freedom.
